Initial Activation using your Maltego ID

Overview

Maltego ID is the single unified login account for all your Maltego products and services, consisting of an email address and a password. Maltego ID also ensures more secure access by enabling 2-factor authentication. 


You can use your Maltego ID to securely log in, activate and manage your Maltego products through the Admin section of Maltego's Browser App through a single account.

Activating your Maltego Products using Maltego ID

After you have downloaded the Malteog Desktop Client, double-click the installer to begin the installation process. The Maltego Activation Wizard will start up and continue to guide you through installation.


Activation Options


You will be presented with two options for activating the Maltego Desktop Client.


To activate your Maltego Client using Maltego ID, select the Maltego ID option and click Next.



Proceed through Online Activation (this is the default activation option - Offline Activation will become available from the end of September 2024).



Once you have registered and activated your account, you can click the Browser Login button or copy the link into a browser of your choice (on the same system running the Client).

In the browser, use your Maltego ID registration details to login to your account.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is supported. You will need the Authenticator app to scan the QR code and enter the code generated.

Once authentication is complete, close the browser and return to the Maltego Desktop Client.

Maltego ID FAQ

I am a new user. Do I have to create a Maltego ID to use Maltego Community Edition?

If you are a new Maltego user, yes, you have to create a Maltego ID in order to log in and use the Maltego Community Edition.


I am already a Maltego CE user. Do I have to create a new Maltego ID?

No, you can use your existing login credentials to continue using Maltego CE. If you update your Maltego Desktop Client, you will be asked to log in with your existing credentials on the Maltego ID platform and offered our new 2-factor authentication feature.


I want to use 2-Factor Authentication for my existing Maltego CE user account – how do I set this up?

Simply update your Maltego Desktop Client and log in to Maltego CE using your existing Maltego CE login credentials. Upon login, you will be invited to set up 2-Factor Authentication.


How is my personal data being used or stored through registration and/or use of a Maltego ID?

I’m not receiving any confirmation or activation email after registering for a Maltego ID – what should I do?

Please make sure to check the spam folder in your email inbox if you do not receive any confirmation or activation email from Maltego. If you cannot find the emails in your spam inbox, please reach out to support@maltego.com and our team will assist you.


How do I delete my existing Maltego CE account or my Maltego ID?

If you wish to delete your Maltego account, please reach out to support@maltego.com and our team will assist you.
